Sri KDU International School Klang is looking to appoint an outstanding Inclusion and SEND Leader to join our talented, energetic, and friendly school in April 2025 or sooner. The Inclusion Leader has the exciting responsibility of establishing the school's first Inclusion and SEND department to ensure the support and success of students across the school.

Role Overview:

About the Role

A clear focus on learning is the foundation stone of Sri KDU teacher standards, which guide and inform our approach across the age range. We are inviting applications from teachers who are fully aligned with this ethos and demonstrate the following:

Key Responsibilities:

1.Leadership and Vision:

Provide visionary leadership in establishing a new Inclusion/SEND department at the school aligning strategies with the school's commitment to holistic character development, academic excellence, and future-proofing education.

Foster a positive and collaborative working environment, encouraging innovation and excellence among the school teaching team.

2. Academic Excellence:

Drive academic excellence by implementing innovative teaching methods, curriculum development, and assessment strategies.

Monitor and analyse student performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement targeted interventions.

3. Character Development:

Instill character development into the students, emphasising values such as critical thinking, empathy, and communication skills.

Encourage extracurricular activities that promote creativity, leadership, and teamwork among students.

Demonstrate an interest in the school life of the students beyond the curriculum including contributing to activities such as school trips.

4. Future-Proof Preparation:

Stay abreast of educational trends and developments to ensure the Inclusion department prepares students for future challenges and opportunities.

Integrate technology and real-world applications into the curriculum to enhance students' skills relevant to the 21st century.

Ensure timely amendments to the teaching curriculum are aligned with examination board requirements and changes to the syllabus.

5. Welfare and Safeguarding:

Prioritise the welfare and safeguarding of students implementing policies and procedures to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Provide support and guidance to students, promoting their well-being and personal development.

6. Continuous Improvement:

Lead regular reviews and evaluations of the Inclusion department's performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective strategies.

Foster a culture of continuous professional development, supporting the growth and advancement of the teaching team.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential

  • Have a good honours degree.
  • Hold a QTS or PGCE teaching qualification.
  • Have a minimum of two years’ experience of teaching.
  • Be talented and highly motivated.
  • Have a sound understanding of SEND in a modern school environment.
  •  Have experience teaching relevant UK curriculum.
  • Be willing to contribute to the development of departmental resources for SDEI.
  • Contribute to whole school enrichment activities before or after school.
  • Be able to provide a UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police check.
  • Be professional in appearance and conduct.
  • Be willing to contribute to the wider curriculum and support the vision of the school.


Desirable

  • Experience working in a Primary school setting

Know your students as people and how they lear

It is an expectation that Sri KDU teachers have detailed knowledge of not only the developmental characteristics and learning needs of the students they teach, but also their personalities and who they are as people. This requires real empathy and skill in meeting the wide variety of individual learning and pastoral needs of international school students with their differing linguistic, cultural and educational circumstances. 

Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning and progress

SRI KDU teachers: 

  • Are skilled and effective users of assessment for supporting and developing learning. 
  • Use a range of assessment strategies and data to inform their appraisal of students’ progress, which aids their planning, and reporting of student progress and to design appropriate intervention and support. 


Demonstrate International-mindedness and Global Citizenship

Sri KDU teachers:

  • Appreciate the different perspectives and beliefs of people from different countries, cultures, religions and languages. 
  • Show politeness, respect, kindness and concern.  
  • Promote these values so that they permeate every aspect of the school. 
  • Recognise the importance of developing our students to be ethical global citizens. 
  • Want each pupil to develop a sense of self-worth, knowing the difference between right and wrong and doing the right thing when it comes to making choices.

Sri KDU teachers:
