This is a very exciting time to join Westholme Prep. We are looking for a hardworking, dedicated and inspirational Key Stage 2 Class Teacher to join our enthusiastic team at one of the leading independent 4 – 18 schools in the North West. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and passionate KS2 Class Teacher to join our Prep team in our brand new purpose built Prep School situated in the heart of the picturesque Senior School site. The successful KS2 Class Teacher will join a friendly and supportive staff who are committed to working together to achieve the best for our children to help them grow and develop into independent, resilient and life-long learners. A willingness to contribute to the wider co-curricular and community life of our active school is essential.
As KS2 Class Teacher you will have an excellent track record, the ability to teach the full range of primary subjects at KS2 and the flexibility, experience and confidence to teach any year groups throughout the Key Stage. Applications from NQTs will be considered.
In the Prep School most lessons are delivered by the Class Teachers, although there is specialist teaching in IT, French, Music and PE. All pupils study French throughout their time in the Prep and there is a high successful and popular biannual trip to France to develop language and learn about the culture. Year 6 spend a day a week at the Senior School using specialist facilities and helping to improve the transition for the move to Year 7.
There is real commitment to learning outside the classroom, with regular trips to places of educational interest to support the curriculum. An impressive range of co-curricular activities is also arranged for pupils. The programme changes termly but includes: string group, ballet, choir, cricket, cross country, drama, yoga, LAMDA, orchestra, recorder group, fencing, Art Club, dance, swimming, Scrabble club and woodwind group. Some of these sessions occur over the lunch break and but most take place after school.
Pupils are given the opportunity to play in inter-school fixtures and all are welcome at training sessions. The main sports played are hockey, netball, rounders, rugby, football, cricket and athletics. The School is also very strong in swimming and cross country running, making full use of the excellent sporting facilities available.
Culturally Westholme is alive with a wide variety of music groups, choirs, playing and singing including a Prep orchestra; there are many opportunities for pupils to perform in concerts and at festivals. The School’s theatre is used by the Prep for all performing arts.
