Job overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated French Teacher to join our dynamic Key Stage 2 team.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective French lessons aligned with the French National Curriculum and the school's curriculum.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including gifted and talented students and those with special educational needs.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies, such as inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and technology integration, to foster a love of the French language and culture.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation, creativity, and critical thinking.
  • Assess student progress regularly using a variety of formative and summative assessments, and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Prepare and administer formal assessments, including tests and exams.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the French curriculum, ensuring alignment with the school's educational philosophy and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and research in French language teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and high-quality French program across all key stages.
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Share expertise and knowledge with colleagues through mentoring, coaching, and collaborative planning.
  • Embrace innovative teaching methods and technologies to enhance student learning.
  • Communicate effectively with parents about student progress and expectations.
  • Build strong relationships with parents to foster a supportive learning environment.
  • Organize parent-teacher conferences and workshops to share information about the French program.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Native or near-native fluency in French.
  • Strong knowledge of the French National Curriculum.
  • Experience teaching French to Key Stage 2 students.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Skills:

  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans, and deliver lessons in a clear and concise manner.
  • Differentiated Instruction: Tailoring instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, including gifted and talented students and those with special educational needs.
  • Assessment: Designing and administering formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and provide feedback.
  • Classroom Management: Creating a positive and disciplined learning environment that fosters student engagement and motivation.
  • ICT Proficiency: Utilizing technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Native or Near-Native Fluency: Strong oral and written proficiency in French.
  • Cultural Knowledge: Understanding of French culture, history, and current events.
  • Linguistic Awareness: Ability to analyze and explain the structure and grammar of the French language.
