Job overview

Temporary KS2 Teacher to cover Maternity Leave

Head of Year TLR available for the right candidate.

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic primary practitioner to join our successful and oversubscribed Middle school in Windsor. Pupils and staff are ambitious, friendly and high-achieving. It is quite simply a lovely school in which to teach.

It was rated “Good” overall with “Outstanding” in the Personal Development category in September 2022.

‘Leaders have cultivated a school community that values many forms of success. They have placed the development of well-rounded individuals at the centre of their school.’

‘Staff feel very well supported by leaders. They are overwhelmingly positive about working in such a considerate and professional community’

This is a Key Stage Two post, with lessons across Year 5 and 6 classes, and potentially some Year 7 teaching also. This post may suit NQTs or teachers that are more experienced.

Visits to the school are encouraged but not essential. Please contact the office to arrange an informal visit.

Application form and further details are available on the school’s website.

The closing date for applications is 9am, Monday 9 December 2024, with a preferred start date of 24 February 2025, but if not then for the new term on 22 April 2025.

About St Edward's Royal Free Ecumenical Middle School

Headteacher: Nina Adamson

Are you an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher looking for a warm, welcoming and supportive place to work? We invite you to take look at St Edward’s Royal Free Ecumenical Middle School.

For boys and girls aged between nine and 13, we offer a happy and exciting environment. A school where children develop a strong sense of self-worth and excellent learning habits in class, so they are able to grow spiritually and become confident learners well-prepared for the next stage of their education.

For ambitious teachers, we also offer the opportunity to grow – both professionally and personally. Your ongoing training and development is a key priority here, and we’ll support you in every way we can to help you achieve your career goals. As well as that, you can look forward to a refreshingly collaborative culture. We’re all striving to achieve the same goals after all, so we all work together, sharing ideas and helping each other in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust.

We’re proud of our school history and its unique status as an Ecumenical Middle School that’s supported by the Dioceses of Portsmouth and Oxford. In 2005 we celebrated 300 years of the Royal Free Trust where it all began at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Although the school aims to follow Christian values, we celebrate the traditions and beliefs of all faiths – and learn the importance of helping and respecting others.

Our attractive site in the lovely historic town of Windsor includes purpose-built specialist teaching spaces for a range of different curriculum subjects. Our music suite, computing area and performance space have all been recently completed, and our sports hall and science laboratories are modern and well-equipped.

Finally, here are a few words from our last full Ofsted report. We think this sums up perfectly what the school is all about. If it sounds like the kind of environment where you would thrive, do get in touch:

'Leaders have cultivated a school community that values many forms of success. They have placed the development of well-rounded individuals at the centre of their school. Pupils’positive contributions to wider school life are encouraged and celebrated equally, alongside their academic successes. Pupils enjoy a wide range of interesting activities to nurture their talents and support their personal development. These include participating in sports clubs, charity events and in-school competitions. The ‘Key Stage 3 Pledge’, for example, recognises and celebrates pupils’positive actions within the school and local community. Pupils demonstrate a strong understanding of the school values. Staff have high expectations for all pupils and provide a plethora of opportunities for them to embody each value. Pupils are proud to belong to the school and feel well prepared for their next stage of education. Bullying is very rare because pupils treat each other with kindness and respect. Pupils feel welcome and fully included in the school. They trust that adults will listen to and resolve any worries that they might have. Parents value the care that staff give. As one parent commented, ‘We are extremely happy with our child’s experience, progress and opportunities. We feel very privileged to have such a fantastic school on our doorstep.’
