Shaftesbury Nash College is expanding its range of courses and is seeking to recruit a Lead. Employability Lecturer passionate about demonstrably improving the lives of young people with additional needs.

In this role, you will lead on the planning and delivery of tutorials on a 1-to-1 and group basis on a wide range of employability topics. You will also provide high quality careers guidance and develop an enrichment provision which enables students to successfully progress to their chosen destination.

Working collaboratively with lecturers, employers and as part of the curriculum team, you will be responsible for students’ work readiness and will plan relevant and engaging employability sessions which will include meaningful encounters with employers and external partners.

The successful person will have a strong track record of establishing and maintaining employer links to support students in securing industry placements. You will have experience of planning and delivering high quality teaching on topics including employability and functional skills. You will also be able to demonstrate the lead role you have played in promoting the personal development of young people, enabling them to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to progress onto their next destination.

Shaftesbury Nash College is a 16-25 further education college for young people with special education needs and disabilities. We have two campuses, one based in Bromley which caters to students with profound to moderate learning disabilities and a new campus based in Greenwich which will cater to students with mild to moderate learning disabilities.

Livability Nash College is an independent specialist further education college for disabled people aged 19-25.

Based in Hayes, Bromley, the college caters for a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including physical, communication and sensory disabilities, medical conditions or autism, in addition to learning disabilities, from severe to profound.

Our approach places a particular emphasis on ‘Learning Through Living’ – personalised learning, facilitating a range of communication needs, and supporting students in the community and with future vocational opportunities. The Course title is ‘Skills for Adult Life’ and runs for three years with an optional fourth year.

Education at Nash College

For students who are not taking qualifications, study programmes focus on high quality work experience, and on non-qualification activity which prepares them well for employment, independent living, being healthy adults and participating in society.” (SEN Code of practice)’.
