Job overview

Millfield School is looking for a Lead Netball Coach to support the development and delivery of the Netball Programme.

As a Lead Netball Coach at Millfield, you will get to work in outstanding facilities with both indoor and outdoor courts and have support from full-time athletic development coaches as well as onsite physiotherapists and performance analysis. You will integrate into a fully engaged team of coaches with a common goal of giving each pupil the best opportunity to reach their full potential. Netball at Millfield also has strong links with a number of Super league franchises and hosts one of the Pathway centres at Millfield.

We're seeking an accomplished individual who holds a UKCC Level 2 qualification in Netball Coaching and has experience of coaching netball within schools, clubs, the England Netball pathway or a Super league franchise. A Level 2 Coaching award and a C award umpire is also desirable.

This is a two-year fixed term contract (with the potential to extend based on review) working 42 hours per week across Monday to Saturday during term time, plus 4 weeks during non-term time (a total of 36.6 working weeks). Due to the nature of the role, flexibility with hours is key as you may also be asked to assist on tours and away tournaments.

In return, you will receive a salary of £28,128.03 per annum (inclusive of holiday pay), along with an array of staff benefits.

About us

Founded in 1935, Millfield’s vision is to be the world leader for the development of children. There are nearly 1,300 students at the senior school (year 9 to U6), with a 3:1 ratio of boarding to day. Although essentially a rural British school, 20 per cent of Millfield students are international and come from more than 70 countries.

Set in over 100 acres of grounds, Millfield’s size brings great opportunity, and the facilities are unmatched in the UK: an Olympic-sized swimming pool, golf courses, indoor centres for tennis, golf and cricket and an equestrian centre; concert hall, recording studio, theatre, art gallery, hi-tech Science block and outstanding teaching facilities, and high-quality boarding accommodation.

Our aim is to discover brilliance in every child and to immerse them in academic, creative and sporting opportunities to develop this brilliance. We offer an exceptionally wide range of courses and provide multiple pathways through the school to meet the needs of the individual child.

Benefits

We strongly believe in employee wellbeing and, as such, there are many benefits available, including:

  • Freshly prepared 3-course lunches for just £10 per month

The modern world is highly competitive and the way we prepare our children for its demands is more important than ever. Young people today are subject to great pressures and it takes strong personalities to avoid the traps that life has lying in wait. Hence a good school must seek to develop confidence and maturity in all its pupils whatever their strengths and weaknesses.

All individuals have different needs and therefore a variety of opportunities must be available to enable each one to achieve success. They must learn to apply themselves to academic work but must also be encouraged to express their other talents.

With its outstanding facilities, a staff:pupil ratio of 1:7.5, an extraordinary range of academic courses and the unrivalled strength of its extra-curricular programme, Millfield strives to achieve all these aims. It also seeks to move with the times whilst maintaining the important traditions of good manners, discipline and respect for others.

We pride ourselves on the richness and diversity of the Millfield experience as well as the friendly atmosphere within our community.
