Job overview

Our School

The Corner School is a Special Educational Needs school, graded good by Ofsted in February 2022, and run by the charity Unlocking Potential. We believe that every child can learn and enjoy a fulfilling school life, regardless of their social and emotional needs. We accommodate children across key stage 1 and 2 and limit our class sizes because we recognise that small and one-to-one work with teachers is crucial to the academic development of our children, and have 1:1 and 2:1 ratios in place to meet the needs of our learners.

Our therapeutic approach is woven throughout all aspects of the school, all staff are trained and supported to have a therapeutic disposition, informed by training in attachment and trauma-responsive approaches. Our dedicated team of Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Therapists work together to develop personalised, dynamic support for each learner enabling them to grow in their own unique way. We offer a safe and nurturing environment and the stability needed to develop their self-esteem, resilience and enable them to learn.

The Role

The Lead Teacher will play a key role in our small school community, and is an exciting opportunity to have a meaningful impact on the lives of children with SEMH needs. You will have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, be resilient in working with children with SEMH needs, and be passionate about helping our children achieve their full potential.

You will work closely with the Head Teacher, to develop and maintain a quality provision, a tailored curriculum, and support the development of a high-performing teaching and learning team, ensuring the highest standards of pupil social, emotional, mental well-being, and achievement. You will also support the Head Teacher in the day-to-day operation of specific school policies and processes and the development, improvement and strategic work across the school.
