Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a committed and dynamic Learning Mentor who has relevant qualifications and proven experience of working with young people with emotional and behavioural issues. The successful candidate will be required to provide support and guidance to young people to help them overcome social, emotional and behavioural issues, ensuring that individual pupils engage more effectively in learning and participating in the life of the school.

Candidates will have the ability to identify and target those pupils at risk of disaffection and help them identify and address barriers to learning. Mentoring will take place one-to-one or in small groups, so you will have excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.

We pride ourselves on high expectations, a commitment to ensuring pupil progress and high-quality teaching and learning provision for all. You will share these values and be able to enthuse and motivate our pupils to engage fully with school life. You will be ambitious and will embrace being part of moving our school forward.

We can offer you fantastic, eager children and supportive parents. Our dynamic and friendly staff are passionate about raising standards and aspirations for all children.

Our school is well-resourced and has a supportive and reflective Senior Leadership Team, Governing Body and Multi-Academy Trust.

An online application form and further details are available via the Trust website: https://www.wadedeacontrust.com/work-with-us/vacancies/

Closing date: 9am on 6th September 2024

The Wade Deacon Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory medical clearance.

The Grange Academy is at heart of the local community and educates children from the ages of 3 to 16 years old. The ‘all through’ status of the school is what makes this such a special place and it is a real honour to have the opportunity to lead this school.

Staff choose to work here for all the right reasons; they care about the young people they serve and fully utilise the fantastic grounds and facilities that we are so lucky to have. Alongside this there is a range of extra-curricular activities and trips to ensure that the students here are given a well-rounded experience.

The focus is on ensuring the highest standards, expectations and aspirations for all our students. We have a strong belief in the importance of excellent appearance, behaviour and work. Our students will tell you that I ask that they are respectful, they persevere and try their best in everything they do. I believe that by encouraging every student to fulfil their potential, whatever their talents and interests, we will ensure they leave The Grange Academy well equipped for the next phase of their lives.

As a parent myself, I recognise the huge responsibility that we have to not only educate, but care, support and guide every single child at The Grange Academy. I look forward to building on the high levels of support we have from or community, as I know with the support of parents, carers and local community we can ensure the students at this school can achieve highly.
