Job overview

We are looking for a passionate, self-motivated Learning Support Assistant to work with a diverse student group to support their journey into medicine, nursing, engineering, digital media, the creative industries and more.

The CUC is home to both Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and the Studio School, both schools focusing on educating 14 – 19 year olds. We are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant who will work across both schools.

As a member of the Northern Schools Trust, The UTC & Studio offers fantastic opportunities for staff to develop their careers within the context of a group of exceptional schools.

This Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Due to the changes of the KCSIE document 2022, all shortlisted candidates may be subject to an online search to check their suitability for the role.

The Life Sciences UTC is a high performing, non-selective specialist Science and Healthcare College for students aged 14-19. As the first of its kind in the UK, we have demonstrated that it is possible for education to work hand in hand with industry and higher education to ensure life changing opportunities for students.  As we go into our 5th year, we are now one of the biggest local sixth form providers in the Liverpool City Region.

We have secured a good Ofsted, with Outstanding for our behaviour, welfare and personal development. Our results are improving. We are making solid progress with a comprehensive intake of students and are pushing harder for ever better results. Most importantly, we ensure decisions we make about the learning programmes for our students are entirely driven by their future career plans and we do everything possible to support them to achieve their goals. The school has an economically diverse student intake, a fact reflective of the local community, and exists on a newly-renovated and updated site with a wide range of modern teaching and recreational facilities.

To this end, the school works closely with its primary sponsor as well as a number of external healthcare and technology companies including Unilever, Novartis and a local NHS trust. The curriculum at the college has extensive options for both vocational and academic study, with older students having a range of BTECs and A-levels to choose from.

Ofsted

“Most teachers have very good subject knowledge and a firm understanding of the courses they are delivering. They plan effective lessons to engage most pupils in their care. Many teachers have a passion for their subject which is communicated strongly to pupils in their care. All teachers have access to good quality professional development. There is a continued focus on improving the mastery of teaching skills.”
