Tockington Manor School is a small independent Preparatory School situated in an idyllic location just north of Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team on a full time basis. We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant.

The ideal candidate will be confident working with Upper School pupils in receipt of an EHCP. You will assist and support pupils to focus on their social as well as their academic development. You will be able to demonstrate exemplary communication skills and understand the value of ‘going the extra mile’ It is essential that you can demonstrate a genuine love of working with children and be committed to providing outstanding care and education

Applicants should have a good level of education and have at least two years’ experience working with children in a school setting.

The successful candidate will:

  • have a child-centered approach
  • be able to establish a supportive relationship with children, parents and staff
  • have good interpersonal skills and able to use their own initiative, as well as working well as part of a team
  • be able to work under pressure whilst maintaining a calm and patient approach
  • have an understanding of supporting children with a personalised curriculum
  • hold NVQ2 or equivalent as recognised by the National Occupational Standards for Supporting Teaching and Learning
  • monitor and evaluate pupils’ responses to learning activities through observation and record achievement against predetermined learning objectives
  • provide the class teacher with objective and accurate feedback as required
  • have good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
  • be responsible for keeping and updating records as agreed with the teacher, contributing to the review of systems/records as requested

This is a full-time position, working Monday – Friday (30-38hours per week depending on requirements), term time only. This position is treated as temporary as it is reliant on external funding. There may be an opportunity for additional hours elsewhere in other departments within the school.
