About the school:

The International School of Bergamo was founded in 2011, to serve both Italian nationals looking for an international education and international families living in the Bergamo area. Officially an IB World School for the Primary, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes ISBergamo prides itself to offer an IB Continuum education.

More information about the school can be found on our website: https://www.isbergamo.com.

ISBergamo is focused on achieving high educational standards, empowering all students to be active, reflective and responsible life-long learners, who can achieve their full potential and contribute to an ever-changing world. All teachers are committed to inquiry based learning and to providing learning experiences which are relevant to the lives of our students.

Our academic programme strives to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and understanding necessary for the 21st century. Starting from Grade 1, we run an iPad 1:1 learning project and technology is an important aspect of our school. In the Elementary and Middle School, children regularly use their iPad within lessons through a blended approach where we feel this adds value to teaching and learning and not merely to replace traditional methods. In the High School, iPads are replaced by laptops.

This is an exciting time to join our community as we expand our school programme year after year. This will include an extension of our current premises, built to meet the growing needs of our School and developments in new educational research.

The Early Years division is one of the most stimulating areas of school and the staff have a strong sense of ownership and commitment to the approaches that have been developed in school. The brand new Early Years facilities, with more than 700mq entirely dedicated to our younger students have ample classrooms with wide floor-to-ceiling windows which give direct access to a didactical area specifically designed to enable learning to occur both inside and outside the classrooms, and provide many opportunities for purposeful and stimulating learning.

The Elementary is an established and yet innovative department, with dedicated teaching staff helping individuals to discover and nurture their unique talents and skills.

The Middle School and developing High School are an extremely dynamic section of the school where students can benefit from a committed staff team and a totally refurbished building with innovative and functional designclassroom with flexible seating, a fully equipped science lab and an art and design lab. September 2019 has seen the opening of a whole new area specifically designed for the older classes as a further enhancement of our developing campus is expected in the years to come.

Throughout the entire school, we support a constructivist approach to education and expect high standards in teaching and learning in a highly creative and collaborative environment.

Location:

The school is located the Eastern part of Bergamo, in a green and quiet environment. The area is rich in sporting facilities, including a modern football pitch located just next to the school as well as rugby fields and an athletics track at the end of the road.

Bergamo is a beautiful and traditional Italian city, steeped in history and immersed in a rich cultural background.  There are excellent transport links with Milan, the mountains, and the well-known lakes in the region of Lombardia. It is well serviced and easily reachable by the local international airport.

The school is easy to reach both with public transport (ATB - Linea 7) and by car.
