Position: Learning Support Teacher
Role: The Learning Support Teacher will implement and provide SEN students with educational support under the supervision of the Head of Learning Support.
As a Learning Support Teacher, you will be providing individual or small group support to students with learning differences and collaborate closely with teachers, modeling inclusive practices and effective research-based strategies ensuring all students have the opportunity to thrive both academically and personally.

Akademeia High School is an academically-selective school in Warsaw, offering IGCSEs and A Levels alongside Akademeia Assessed Courses. The majority of our students are preparing to study at Oxbridge, Russell group, and Ivy League universities as well as acclaimed architecture, art and music schools. With a rigorous admissions process and A Level classes taught in the form of undergraduate seminars, the school pursues a pre-university university model. The school offers a robust scholarship programme, with 10% of places allocated to merit-based, partial and full scholarships. Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support to students with learning difficulties or special educational needs (SEN).
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement strategies for accommodating diverse learning needs within the classroom.
- Conduct assessments to identify students' specific learning needs and develop personalized learning plans.
- Develop and implement personalized learning plans tailored to each student's individual needs and academic goals, including accommodations for exams and coursework.
- Collaborate with the exam centre to ensure that students with SEN receive the appropriate access arrangements to demonstrate their knowledge and abilities.
- Deliver targeted interventions and support sessions focused on building essential academic skills, such as literacy, numeracy, study skills, and exam preparation strategies.
- Adapt teaching materials and resources to suit the learning styles and abilities of individual students.
- Monitor and track the academic progress of students with SEN, providing ongoing feedback and adjustments to support strategies as necessary to ensure academic success.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on their child's progress, discuss strategies for support at home, and collaborate on goal-setting.
- Work closely with other members of the school's support team, including special educational needs coordinator (SENCOs) and the Wellbeing team to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting students with SEN.
- Keep up-to-date with best practices in the field of special education and attend relevant professional development opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of student assessments, progress, and interventions in accordance with school policies and procedures.
- Advocate for the needs of students with SEN within the school community and participate in meetings or committees related to inclusion and diversity.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected and empowered to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally, regardless of their individual learning needs.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Teaching certification from an accredited institution and minimum two years of experience in the given field.
- University degree in learning support and/or special education needs
- Preferred knowledge and experience working in the British curriculum
- Preferred experience in teaching at a secondary level
- Fluency in English
- Strong communication and collaboration skills

About Akademeia High School
Akademeia High School is an international, academically-selective school in Warsaw, offering A Levels and GCSEs. We are an accredited UCAS centre and Edexcel (Pearson) and AQA examination centre for the English GCE Advanced Levels. We have also prepared a special intensive SAT/ACT exam course for students who are interested in applying to American universities.
We offer IGCSEs and A Levels alongside Akademeia Assessed Courses, which supplement and go beyond the prescribed UK Examination Boards’ curricula. In years 10 and 11 students take interdisciplinary Akademeia Assessed Courses and iGCSEs subjects.
