A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced, inspiring and passionate Learning Support Teacher to join our Learning Support department at Upton House School.
A little bit about us
We are a small independent school in Windsor. The school has been running since 1936. We value each and every member of our staff team and recognise that people can bring different ideas and suggestions all of which are equally valued. We view our team members as our extended family and most of our staff have worked with the school for many years.
Responsibilities
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Learning Support teacher with a proven track record to join our Learning Support department and provide high quality tuition to our SEN pupils.
There will be individual and group support for pupils who are identified as having SpLDs or other types of SEN.
The successful candidate will support the SENDCO in creating a support plan and create pupil specific targets. It’s important that records are kept and child assessments are carried out with feedback to the parents and SENDCO with advice on further assessments when needed.
Liaison with Staff
· Liaise with the pupil’s teachers in order to provide appropriate and relevant literacy intervention.
· Keep the SENDCO and other relevant staff fully informed of any matters that arise with the children that you teach.
Liaison with Parents
· Establish good rapport with parents.
· Keep parents informed about pupil’s progress. Meet with parents in the autumn and spring term at parents’ evening and give parents a written report in the summer term. These reports are written using the school’s computer network system.

What we are looking for
The ideal candidate for this role would have:
· QTS
· Level 5 of level 7 qualification in SpLD. Specialism in Maths preferred.
· Capable of planning for students from a variety of backgrounds and abilities, and inspiring them to reach their full potential
· A willingness to be fully involved as a member of the Learning Support department and the team of teachers at Upton House School and share in its ethos.
· Previous experience of teaching children from age 4 to 11
· Excellent communication skills
· Able to work as part of a team and use your own initiative
· Commitment to your role and being an inspiration
· Have a fun, can do attitude
· A willingness to meet challenges with enthusiasm and to contribute as a team member is essential

Upton House School is a independent co-educational preparatory school in Windsor, Berkshire. The school was first opened in 1936, and is located on a one acre site in the centre of Windsor. In 2008 the two-storey facility Little Upton was opened, containing pre-nursery and nursery rooms with access to an outdoor play area. There are approximately 295 students on the school roll. Upton House is denominationally Christian, and is a registered charity.
