Who we need?

Areas of Expertise: Fabrication Welding and Sheet Metalwork

Responsibilities:

· Developing and writing comprehensive schemes of work and detailed lesson plans that align with curriculum requirements and industry standards.

· Delivering high-quality, engaging, and interactive lectures and practical sessions to students, fostering an environment of active learning.

· Confidently challenging inappropriate behaviours and effectively monitoring student attendance, providing support where necessary to promote student success.

· Assessing and evaluating student performance through a variety of assessment methods, providing constructive feedback to support their academic growth.

· Facilitating and supervising student projects, providing guidance and mentorship to help them achieve their learning objectives.

· Collaborating with colleagues to continuously improve the curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to the development of the department.

· Engaging with industry professionals and organisations to enhance learning opportunities for students through guest lectures, site visits, and partnerships.

· Managing classroom resources and equipment, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.

· Participating in professional development opportunities to maintain and enhance teaching skills and technical knowledge.

Qualifications:

· A minimum of Level 5 qualification in Engineering Education, with a specialisation in Fabrication Welding and Sheet Metalwork. (Educational training up to Level 5 can be provided if not currently held).

· Proven experience in teaching or training within the field of engineering.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.

· A proactive and innovative approach to teaching, with a commitment to continuous improvement.

· Excellent organisational and time-management skills.

· Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

· Proficiency in the use of educational technology and digital tools to enhance learning experiences.

Preferred Skills:

· Experience with curriculum development and instructional design.

· Familiarity with Fabrication Welding and Sheet Metal Work.

· Understanding of current trends and future directions in the field of engineering education.

· Ability to engage with a diverse student population and adapt teaching methods to meet varying learning needs.

New College Nottingham is a mixed, selective, non-denominational general further education college situated in Nottingham. It is a 16 plus with five different sites in the centre of Nottingham. The latest Ofsted report identified 14,029 learners at the school, between the ages of 16-19, studying a range of academic and vocational courses.

The college was established in 1998 through a merger of smaller educational centres in the Nottingham area. Further merging has happened, most recently early in 2017, when the college merged together with Central College Nottingham.

The college specialises in music and performance as well as excelling in its media and creative courses. It hosts a wide range of facilities to help its learners’ experiences, from a hair and beauty salon and art gallery through to a music venue and theatre.
