We are seeking an individual who would love to share their knowledge, skills, and expertise with students in this exciting and rapidly expanding curriculum area teaching Professional Construction to future industry professionals.

If you are new to teaching or have taught under 5 years you may be eligible for the levelling up payment.  In addition, if you do not already possess a teaching qualification we will provide you with a reduced teaching timetable, in order to undertake a mentored programme of teaching skills development including funding for a professional teaching qualification.  If you are an experienced Electrical Installation professional with an interest in developing tradespeople of the future, then we would love to hear from you.  Click Levelling up premium payments for FE teachers - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) for more information.

As a Lecturer in Professional Construction at Solihull College & University Centre, you will teach on and contribute to the development and support for a range of programmes from Level 2 up to Level 5, including our T-Level in Civil Engineering. You will work closely with other members of staff both within the area and across other College areas, ensuring a comprehensive and high-quality educational experience for our students.

The successful candidate will have a degree in a Professional Construction field, a relevant Level 5 teaching qualification (or committed to work towards in line with contractual requirements), and proven industry-related work experience in the field of Professional Construction. A master’s degree in a Professional Construction Field, Level 3 Assessor Award or equivalent, and previous experience in teaching and assessing students in a further education environment are desirable.

This role requires good IT skills, excellent organisational and communication skills, a flexible and adaptable attitude to working with students of all ages, and a proactive approach to modernising the curriculum. An awareness of sustainability and climate change and how it applies to FE and can be embedded into the curriculum is also essential.
