The Role

We are seeking an exceptional Literacy Lead & Librarian to join our team and manage the development of our new Knowledge Hub (library). In this vital role, you will:

  • Ensure the Knowledge Hub is well-utilised and engaging for our students, organising author visits, competitions, and other activities to promote reading and literacy.
  • Deliver our "Reading Plus" programme to support students in developing their literacy skills, providing targeted support and mentoring to less able students in English lessons.
  • Work closely with our Director of Faculty for English and Literacy to identify and address the literacy and learning needs of our students, fostering a love of reading and learning.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to the overall development of the school, undertaking any other reasonable duties as directed.


What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent knowledge of literacy development and strategies to support students in improving their reading, writing, and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills to effectively manage the Knowledge Hub and deliver targeted literacy interventions.
  • The ability to engage and motivate students, fostering a love of reading and learning.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to stay up-to-date with best practices in literacy education.
  • The ability to work flexibly and adapt to the changing needs of the school community.


What We Offer

A salary of £26,018 - £29418 (pro rata) depending on experience for 36 hours per week, term-time only. We will also consider applicants who wish to work part time.

We work closely with our industry connections to ensure the skills we teach are the ones companies are looking for and our students leave the academy with a network of contacts along with the ability to progress into further education or employment.
