At Ada, the National College for Digital Skills, our mission is to educate and empower the next generation of diverse digital talent. Through the quality of education we deliver, the depth of our industry partnerships and focus on diversity, we are changing the face of the tech sector, expanding the talent pipeline and transforming lives.

We are a specialist Further Education college, where every 16-19 student takes Computer Science and all of our diverse Higher Level and Degree Apprentices work in skills shortage disciplines in innovative, blue-chip companies. 

The digital skills gap is costing the UK economy an estimated £63 billion a year in lost GDP. Ada seeks to fill this skills gap by equipping young with the skills industry actually needs.

Ada was announced by the Prime Minister in December 2014; England’s first new FE College since 1993 and since then we’ve gone from strength to strength including a Good with Outstanding features in our first Ofsted Inspection. 

16-19 Provision: 

As of 2024, we have 187 16-19 students enrolled. Our most recent results are outstanding; 39% of A level results at A*- B and 74% achieving at least one Distinction or better in their externally assessed Computing BTEC. This makes us the best education institution in the country for this BTEC.  

Degree Apprenticeships:

Across our London Victoria and Manchester Ancoats campus, we have 363 apprentices currently enrolled on our Higher and Degree Level Apprenticeships. We specialise in five disciplines at present: software development, data analytics, tech consultancy, cyber security and business analysis, working with a wide range of SMEs and corporate organisations such as PwC, Bank of America, Deloitte, Clearscore, Just Eat, Capita, MHRA, Booking.com and Salesforce.

At present 38% of our learners are female, 51% are from ethnic minority backgrounds and 50% come from low income households compared to national averages of c. 20%.

 To be successful in the role the post holder will:

• Have excellent organisation skills with the ability to structure processes and set up efficient systems to support Ada’s continued growth.

• Be consistent and accurate, have a keen eye for detail and ability to work within deadlines.

• Learn quickly, be adaptable, flexible and able to work in the ever-changing context of a growing organisation.

• A passion for design and a desire to learn and grow.

• A portfolio demonstrating graphic design skills and creativity.

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva.

• Be able to take the initiative and demonstrate a creative problem-solving approach.

• Have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, working well independently and as part of a small team, and collaborating well with colleagues in person and remotely.

Person Specification

• Design Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva

•  Organisation and Time Management: Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

• Creativity and Innovation: A creative mindset and the ability to come up with new ideas, campaigns, marketing tactics.

• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Passion for Social Impact: A commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of young people.

• This role would also suit someone starting their career or looking to gain experience in marketing.

Since then we’ve gone from strength to strength including a Good with Outstanding features in our first and second Ofsted inspections.

The digital industry is experiencing epic growth but there is a talent shortage. Over 130,000 tech jobs are available each year in the UK but students are leaving education without sufficient knowledge and experience to get the job. We want to change this.

With Ada, students can learn relevant digital skills to pursue their dream job in tech. We are a unique community which puts computer programming at the heart of everything we do. Our students are the future game changers: challenging the norm, excited by change, and resilient in the face of adversity.

We want to remove the glass ceiling for women and individuals from low-income backgrounds in the tech industry. Everyone, from any background, is entitled to a quality education and a better future. Our community is united by digital so we work closely with Haringey Council and the local community to ensure the inclusion extends beyond the walls of Ada.

Location & Provision:

As of May 2021, we have 145 16-19 students enrolled, these students study the academically stretching BTEC in Computer Science along with a range of complimentary A-Levels.

Our Higher and Degree Level Apprenticeships in Digital Innovation (aligned to the Software Developer Standard) and Data Analytics and Visualisation (aligned to the Data Analyst Standard) have almost 200 apprentices enrolled from a range of organisations.

Our curriculum is academically stretching but practically rigorous and truly embedded with industry. Students are provided with a one on one coach from industry and employers help design and deliver our curriculum and careers advice. The positive impact to students and employers is demonstrable.

We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved in just four years, we have had some fantastic successes and plans for more to come.
