Established in 1984, Ruskin Mill Trust is an educational charity that operates in England, Scotland and Wales. We offer exciting outdoor learning environments, utilising practical land and craft activities to support the development of work and life skills in young people with autistic spectrum conditions and other learning differences. Our research-led method, Practical Skills Therapeutic Education, is inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner, John Ruskin and William Morris. Working with hand, head, heart and place, Ruskin Mill Trust helps individuals to re-imagine their potential.

An exciting opportunity has come up for an experienced, self-motivated Night Home Manager to join our team here at Sunfield. The Night Home Manager will be responsible for the smooth running of waking nights and contribute to the safeguarding of care for our children and young people throughout all nights of the year. You will work with the key Care management team to promote and maintain the highest standards of care and wellbeing of the children and young people.

The Night Home Manager will manage and supervise the Nights team and have awareness of the duties of sleep-ins. The Night Home Manager will be responsible and accountable for the leadership and management of the night team within one or more homes of Sunfield’s Social Care Provision, enabling, inspiring and developing an outstanding home for children and young people in accordance with The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards for Children’s Homes.

Prospective candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • Relevant qualifications, Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s, it would also be desirable to hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership in Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services
  • Sound experience of working with children and young people within residential care (Children’s Home (England) Regulations 2015) ideally with severe learning disabilities and profound autistic spectrum disorder.
  • Sound experience of Child Protection and Safeguarding Management.
  • Proven experience of working within a senior role; leading and managing a team
  • Experience of conducting staff supervisions and devising and implementing staff development plans and evidencing outcomes.
  • Significant operational experience in a care environment working with all levels of staff and management
  • Working knowledge of Quality Assurance systems.
  • Commitment to creating an environment which respects a person’s independence and encourages their individuality.
  • Be able to physically engage with CALM physical intervention and restraint
  • Experience in delivering training
