Job overview

Kent College Dubai

Kent College Dubai are seeking enthusiastic and passionate EYFS teacher to join our thriving school.

Kent College Dubai (KCD) opened its doors in August 2016, and in a very short space of time has established itself as a hugely successful community-centred school that is inclusive and aspiring. The school takes pupils from ages 10 months -18 years, and is located in the Nad al Sheba district of Dubai and is a proud member of the ALDAR Education group.

We set much store by the attributes of our own KCD Learner Profile, through which our pupils aspire to key qualities and values that will help them deal with the challenges of the lives that lie ahead of them. Team working, problem-solving, and independent thinking are given a high status in school life, in order to build pupils’ self-confidence and leadership skills. Our competitive House system underpins many school activities and events and gives pupils an additional sense of identity and loyalty.

KCD Staff

A KCD teacher is guided by the principles outlined in the KCD Staff Charter, embodying values such as professionalism, collaboration, and commitment to continuous development. Committed to fostering a positive and supportive educational community, a KCD teacher embraces the 21 key commitments, including teamwork, confidentiality, and prioritising the wellbeing of both students and colleagues.

Curriculum

At Kent College we follow the British national curriculum, through to GCSE and A-level. Arabic and Moral Education are also core subjects in the curriculum across the age range, and we place a very high priority on the extra-curricular programme that complements the academic curriculum.

Wellbeing

The wellbeing of our pupils, staff, and community is the cornerstone of our educational approach. At KCD, we understand that true academic success goes hand in hand with social and emotional wellbeing. Our commitment to nurturing the whole child is evident in the guidance and opportunities we provide, ensuring that every student thrives not only academically but also socially and emotionally. As a member of our dedicated staff, you will play a pivotal role in supporting colleagues, students, and families to achieve holistic success. Come be a part of KCD, where wellbeing is not just a priority, but a way of life.

Creative Arts

We also recognise the powerful influence that the creative and performing arts have on a pupil’s personal development, and know that they help to complete the circle of experience and self-confidence that we look for in all our pupils. In the school’s impressive Sir Tim Clark Auditorium concerts and drama productions involve performers across the whole school from Year 3 to Year 13, delightful year group productions in the Junior School reveal the talents of the future, and our dancers impress audiences with their confidence and musicality. Art and Design Technology are also given a high profile, and the work on display around the school proclaims the quality of teaching and the pupils’ ability.

Sport

At KCD, we proudly maintain our status as one of the premier sports schools in Dubai. Our dedicated Physical Education team receives unwavering support from all staff to uphold the high standards of our diverse sports offerings. Recognising the integral role sports play in achieving our overarching goal of wellbeing for staff, pupils, and the community, we are in search of enthusiastic staff members eager to contribute to our sporting initiatives. Join us at KCD, where a commitment to excellence in sports is not just a tradition, but a dynamic part of our holistic approach to education and wellbeing.

Community

At KCD, we recognise the vital role of community in shaping the success of our pupils. We place great emphasis on building effective, respectful, and collaborative relationships with our families, understanding that their involvement is integral to the overall achievement of our students. We value excellent communication skills and empathy as essential qualities in our staff, as we strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels heard and understood.

Application requirements

KHDA, the Dubai education authority, requires us to employ teachers with a teaching qualification and a degree in their specialist subject. As a British Curriculum school, we normally expect applicants to have a British or Irish teaching qualification and/or experience of teaching in the UK: we expect new members of staff to adapt quickly to the education environment of Dubai, so they must be already familiar with the curriculum that they will be delivering. Passion, creativity, engagement with the school’s values and a strong sense of fun are key qualities that we are looking for. We would also like you to have at least 2 years teaching experience.

Remuneration

We aim to attract and retain staff of the highest quality primarily because the school is a fulfilling and enjoyable environment in which to work. We aim to provide professional development opportunities to match the needs and aspirations of each individual member of staff, and to make sure that our pupils are taught by motivated teachers who are fully up to date with their teaching methods and approaches.

As well as this, the school offers its new teachers a competitive tax free salary that includes an accommodation allowance, medical insurance, annual travel allowance, schooling at KCD for two dependents and an end of service gratuity.

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE STAND FOR

Welcome to Kent College Dubai, a school with many characteristics that ensure all our pupils enjoy a very special education, and the very best start in life. We opened our doors for the first time in August 2016, and have quickly established ourselves as a significant contributor to the education scene in Dubai.

Our pupils follow the British curriculum from the Early Years Foundation Stage in the kindergarten through to GCSE in Years 10 and 11 and A-levels in the Sixth form. Music, Art, Drama and Technology all have a central place in the academic and wider curriculum, and we expect our pupils to get fully involved in performing, creating and innovating.

A special feature of Kent College Dubai is the individual attention given to each pupil. Small classes of no more than 20 pupils, a carefully-developed tutoring system and individualised learning pathways allow each pupil to be him or herself within the school community.

British independent schools are renowned for their success in developing young people’s confidence and life skills, and we are doing the same through an exciting variety of clubs, activities and sports, as well as the traditional house system to encourage a strong sense of loyalty and teamwork. The school is equipped with fine outdoor and indoor facilities including a double-sized sports hall, separate artificial hockey and rugby pitches and a six-lane swimming pool, so that we can nurture pupils’ enthusiasm and skills across the whole spectrum of sporting ability as well as other intellectual and creative areas.

Values and Vision

Kent College brings to Dubai a rich history of first-class education combined with a desire to educate the whole person. From its inception our pupils have played their part in a complete school, and benefit from the interactions and learning experiences that flow from being a member of a whole community.

Our aims and values:

  • To maintain high educational standards in all academic, cultural and sporting      activities, stimulating excitement in learning, curiosity, critical awareness and responsibility.
  • To uphold human values in practice as well as in theory, in a spirit of openness and tolerance, and to nurture moral responsibilities and behaviour regardless of age or background.
  • To encourage pupils in a critical examination of the standards and values      current in society.
  • To allow pupils to have an excellent understanding of how Islamic values influence      contemporary society.
  • To encourage pupils to respect and appreciate the heritage and culture of the      UAE, which underpin and influence contemporary life in Dubai.
  • To foster close co-operation between parents, students and staff, as well as      fairness, trust and confidence in our dealings with one another.
  • To inspire qualities of loyalty, leadership and support, and encourage tolerance and respect for others.
  • To make a contribution to the local community in a variety of ways.

Kent College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and police and criminal records. All employees resident in the UAE are subject to the laws of the United Arab Emirates and the regulations of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).
