Position Overview

Korean International School (KIS) is a private, independent school with an enrollment of over 800 students representing more than 30 nationalities. We offer a British-style academic education designed for the English-speaking community in Hong Kong.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Media Teacher to join our Creative Arts department. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching the Cambridge International AS & A Level Digital Media & Design (9481) as well as BTEC Creative Media (Level 2). This role requires a creative educator who can inspire students and foster a deep understanding of media concepts, design principles, and digital production techniques.


 

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development: Design and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the Cambridge International AS & A Level Digital Media & Design and BTEC Creative Media curricula.


Instruction: Deliver high-quality instruction in various media disciplines, including digital media production, graphic design, video editing, and multimedia storytelling.


Assessment: Develop and administer assessments that effectively measure student understanding and skills, providing constructive feedback to support their growth.


Student Support: Provide guidance and mentorship to students, encouraging their creative expression and helping them navigate their learning journey in media studies.


Collaboration: Work closely with other faculty members to integrate media education across the curriculum and participate in departmental meetings and initiatives.

 

Professional Development: Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and teaching methodologies in media education, participating in relevant training and workshops.

 

Extracurricular Involvement: Support and supervise media-related extracurricular activities, such as clubs, projects, and competitions. Running of our Annual Film Festival.


Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Media Studies, Digital Media, Education, or a related field.

 

Experience: Proven experience teaching Cambridge International AS & A Level Digital Media & Design (9481) and BTEC Creative Media preferable.

 

Skills: Strong knowledge of digital media tools and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software) and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Creativity: A passion for media and design, with the ability to inspire students and foster a creative learning environment.

 

Personal Attributes

Strong organisational and time-management skills.

Adaptability and a willingness to embrace new technologies and teaching methods.

A collaborative team player who is committed to student success and community engagement.
