£30,262.21 - £33,202.21 (More than 5 years’ continuous service)

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and highly effective individual to join our pastoral support and guidance team. We are incredibly proud of our college system and of the part it plays in underpinning our culture at Hummersknott. Our Pastoral Managers are fundamental to an ethos focused on broad education and the first point of contact for parents and carers, providing care, support and guidance to pupils. Relationships with our families and with outside agencies are second to none and the successful candidate will play a key part in this partnership working, ensuring emotional, social and academic progress. You will be working alongside colleagues to help improve the attendance, behaviour and progress of our students. This is an exciting role where no day is the same and where challenge is a given. As a Pastoral Manager at Hummersknott, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting difference to the lives of the children under your care.


We are looking for an outstanding candidate who:


·         Has significant experience of working with young people in an education or community setting

·         Has excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with children and their parents

·         Has strong IT skills as the position does include administrative tasks in relation to student records and preparation of reports

·         Has the ability to work effectively under pressure and high levels of emotional resilience

Hummersknott Academy is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary school in Darlington, County Durham. At its most recent inspection there were 1,228 students aged 11-16 on the school roll.

Hummersknott Academy was founded in 1955 as a girls’ high school and converted to academy status in 2012. In 2007, the school underwent an extensive £15 million regeneration project. The area of Hummersknott is located in the west of Darlington and has a population of around 3,500. Extensive facilities at the school include a dance studio, ceramics area, recording studio, sports hall and a 3G artificial football pitch.
