Yesodey Hatorah School is a girls Charedi orthodox Jewish secondary in Hackney, east London. As of the most recent inspection there were 331 students on the school roll, taught between the ages of 11-16. The school is located in the Stamford Hill area of Hackney, which has the highest concentration of Hasidic Jews in Europe. The school can be accessed via the A10 or Stamford Hill station. The school was founded in 1942 with separate departments for boys and girls. The girls senior department became a voluntary aided school in 2005. The opening ceremony of the £14 million campus was attended by Tony Blair, Lord Levy, Gerald Ronson, and Richard Desmond. The school is also overseen by the Hackney Learning Trust. The moral codes of Orthodox Judaism are adhered to at the school, which does not have onsite internet access, and leisure activities such as ice skating and bowling are not permitted.

“The attitudes and behaviour of students are exemplary because of the pervasive trust and mutual respect they have for each other and adults who work with them. Relationships are mature and at all times excellent. Students’ industrious approach and tenacity in lessons are strong features that contribute to their good progress. This was very evident during the inspection. The passion for learning is consistent [across subjects].”
