Job overview

We are seeking a creative and energetic Performance Tennis Coach to deliver first-class coaching & competition programmes for county, regional and national level tennis players.

Millfield Tennis has a rich history of success from the schools’ arena to the development of international players. We are currently within the LTA Performance Network with a growing reputation of delivering a High-Performance Tennis Programme. We have outstanding indoor and outdoor facilities, and an integrated programme of player scholarships, education and support.

The Performance Tennis Coach will integrate into a fully engaged team of coaches with a common goal of giving each pupil the best opportunity to exit Millfield School into a top-level UK/US University or with tennis as a valuable life experience. Lifestyle management and the development of the pupil are central to our philosophy. The Performance Tennis Coach will lead the coaching and planning for Squad sessions and Individual players, be responsible for the planning and delivery of competitive schedules and provide parent feedback within their role.

The successful candidate will be a level 4 LTA Licensed Senior Performance Coach, or equivalent, and will also have had experience playing the sport to a high level. We are a mixed school and therefore the role would include coaching girls and boys.

This is a full-time, 52-week role, working an average of 42 hours across the days of Monday to Saturday for which you will receive a salary of £31,950 per annum, 10 weeks holiday entitlement per year, freshly prepared lunches for just £10 per month, investment in your professional and personal development, access to the school facilities and discounts/cashback on high street shops and restaurants through the school’s Employee Assistance Programme.

The modern world is highly competitive and the way we prepare our children for its demands is more important than ever. Young people today are subject to great pressures and it takes strong personalities to avoid the traps that life has lying in wait. Hence a good school must seek to develop confidence and maturity in all its pupils whatever their strengths and weaknesses.

All individuals have different needs and therefore a variety of opportunities must be available to enable each one to achieve success. They must learn to apply themselves to academic work but must also be encouraged to express their other talents.

With its outstanding facilities, a staff:pupil ratio of 1:7.5, an extraordinary range of academic courses and the unrivalled strength of its extra-curricular programme, Millfield strives to achieve all these aims. It also seeks to move with the times whilst maintaining the important traditions of good manners, discipline and respect for others.

We pride ourselves on the richness and diversity of the Millfield experience as well as the friendly atmosphere within our community.
