About the role

As a music teacher in Humberston Academy, you will be key to our mission to provide every student, regardless of their background, a great musical education and help to provide them with the choice to study music to the highest level. You will deliver high-quality, rigorous lessons that drive achievement and inspire a love of learning that extends beyond the classroom.

The role will be on a casual contract with the opportunity to build hours at Humberston Academy and possibility of hours at Havelock Academy.

Who we are looking for

Qualification Criteria

  • Qualified to Grade 8 (or equivalent) in at least one musical instrument
  • Ability to play your instrument to a high level is essential; experience with other instruments in the family is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrable commitment to raising attainment of all pupils regardless of needs.
  • Excellent understanding of both subject and general teaching pedagogy.
  • Up to date knowledge of styles of music relevant to instruments.
  • Able to create and adapt musical arrangements in a variety of styles and genres.
  • Experience of leading rehearsals and performances.
  • Effective and systematic behaviour management.
  • Be or demonstrate the potential to become an outstanding teacher
  • Genuine passion for and a belief in the potential of every student.
  • Deep commitment to the academy mission of providing an excellent education to every student, regardless of background.
  • Excellent interpersonal, planning and organisational skills.
  • Resilient, motivated and committed to achieving excellence.
  • Reflective and proactive in seeking feedback to constantly improve practice.
  • Commitment to regular and on-going professional development and training to establish outstanding classroom practice.
  • Commitment to and understanding of professionalism in line with the National Teaching Standards.
  • Willingness to undertake training

A total of 84% of students at Humberston Academy achieved 4 to 9 in GCSE Maths this summer. In English, the figure was 88%. 82% of students achieved above grade 4 in the combine Maths and English measure. These results once again confirms our place among the top-performing schools in the area.
