Job overview

BOA Creative, Digital and Performing Arts Academy is one of the most successful state-funded, 14-19 academies in the country. Student results speak for themselves and are well above national average. Our intake is 100% selective, based on aptitude within the specialism rather than academic ability. As a result, we are unique in our admissions. Located in the centre of Birmingham and within the hub of the digital and creative industries in the West Midlands, we benefit from superb facilities for academic, vocational and extra-curricular activities. We are part of the BOA Group, a small multi-academy trust that includes BOA Digital Technologies and BOA Stage & Screen Production.

The current PA to the Principal will take a sabbatical next year. As a result, the PA to the Principal role is for a fixed-term period of 1 academic year (September 2024 to August 2025).

Reporting directly to the Principal, the PA will provide administrative support in a busy and vibrant academy of over 1000 students. The PA serves as the primary point of contact for external and internal communications with the Principal and serves as a liaison to the CEO, Board of Trustees, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), staff, parents and other stakeholders and partners. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgement in a variety of situations, have strong written and verbal communication skills, administration and organisational skills and the ability to maintain a realistic balance between multiple priorities. The PA will work independently on certain projects from conception to completion and must be able to work under pressure, handle a variety of activities and recognise the importance of confidentiality and discretion. This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference to the future of education within a world-class academy.

If you share the Academy’s vision and ambitions, possess a strong desire to work within an ethos of creative collaboration and partnership and want to have a positive impact on young people, families and the community then we would be delighted to hear from you.

Working Hours, holidays and other matters:

This post is full time. 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. All staff are automatically enrolled in the local government pension scheme. In addition to working normal office hours, you are expected to work the hours necessary to fulfil your responsibilities and meet the needs of the post. Paid holiday is 24 days a year plus 8 bank holidays. Holidays will be taken at times agreed with the Principal.

Closing Date – 10am on Monday 1st July 2024

The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check.
