Job overview

Situated on the beautiful Moray Coast in the North of Scotland, Gordonstoun is widely recognised as the world leader in Hahnian education. We have a co-educational community of over 500 pupils aged from 4-18, who are both boarding and day pupils, and are drawn from over 40 countries.

The Prep School is an exciting and homely place to live and learn; it has c.125 pupils aged 4-13, around a quarter of whom are boarders. It has a wide and varied timetable and enjoys the use of superb modern facilities for sports, the performing arts, outdoor learning and other activities.

We are looking for an inspiring classroom practitioner who is keen to play an active role in boarding school life, whether in the classroom, in the mountains or in the middle of the Moray Firth. You will work closely alongside the Head of Prep School and the Assistant Heads Pastoral and Curriculum, ensuring all our pupils are supported and challenged to be the very best version of themselves they can be.

The successful candidate must have strong pastoral instincts and have an excellent track record in an educational setting, preferably with children within the 4-13 age range. You will have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, and embrace our school motto ‘Plus Est En Vous’ (there is more in you) in your approach. You will have experience of managing others and/or discrete areas of school life.

All candidates should be registered or eligible for registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, as this is a condition of employment. The post is suitable for an ambitious NQT or Probationer, or a more experienced teacher. We welcome applications from marginalised and under-represented groups.
