About Bringhurst Primary School

Bringhurst Primary School is a unique village primary school set in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside. The school is full, with 170 pupils on roll who come mainly from the villages within the local area. The school has an excellent reputation and is very popular within its local community.

The school was again judged to be securely ‘good’ at its last inspection in November 2022 and the Trust is seeking to appoint a Principal who can provide the exceptional leadership that will steer the school to even greater success in the future. We believe in putting children at the centre of all we do and in providing an education that is exciting, engaging and fun.

Our vision as a school and as part of a Trust is to broaden pupils’ horizons. Our key values are important to us, that everyone in our school will be kind, responsible and respectful to all. Each individual is valued and encouraged to believe in themselves and adopt an ‘I can do it!’ attitude. Through an active collaboration between home, school and the local community we strive to develop resilient, confident and independent learners who enjoy learning and are ready to face new challenges when they finally leave us at the end of Year 6.

About You

You will be able to provide strong, visionary leadership to the school and provide examples from your current role of making a difference and raising standards. You will see yourself as a teacher at heart - able to inspire others to learn and promoting a broad and balanced curriculum that meets all children’s needs. You will also need to have excellent communication skills, be approachable and a good listener and be able to deal with the everyday challenges that being Principal of a village school brings.

As an innovative, motivational leader, you will have a commitment to your own professional development as well as those who work in your team. You will contribute to the wider life of the school and our Trust. You will have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of current educational priorities and research into curriculum and pedagogy and be able to demonstrate how these will influence your vision for the school over the coming years. You will be unapologetic about ensuring all pupils achieve the highest possible academic, pastoral, artistic and sporting outcomes.

It is essential that you have experience of promoting equality and diversity and are fully up to date with the policies and procedures relating to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare. You must be committed to inclusion with an up to date knowledge of appropriate strategies and the type of support needed for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
