Ripplevale School and College seeks a Safeguarding Administration Assistant to support its mission of ensuring the welfare and safety of students. The role involves assisting with safeguarding policies, maintaining accurate records, and coordinating responses to concerns. The ideal candidate will have experience in safeguarding, knowledge of child protection procedures, and strong organizational skills. This role requires compliance with safeguarding legislation and a commitment to creating a safe environment for all learners.
This is a Term Time only position starting in January 2025.
The key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
· Safeguarding training for new staff
· Policies to be sent out to all staff and any new staff
· Providing staff with safeguarding updates, including e-bulletins
· Safeguarding files of leavers to be sent to new provisions
· Request and chase safeguarding files for new starters
· Safeguarding files of new starters to be scanned in and added to MyConcern
· Requesting safeguarding information for any taster day students
· Provide parents with regular safeguarding updates via parentmail
· Smoothwall - monitor, liaise with IT Manager and action as appropriate
· Setting up risk assessments
· Liaising with staff regarding student concerns
· Create, distribute and collate safeguarding questionnaires
· Sharing relevant safeguarding information with staff, parents and professionals
· Ensuring safeguarding information is displayed and updated accordingly around the School and College
· Home visits (occasionally)
· Supporting office with completion and accuracy of registers
· Supporting at break and lunchtimes and taxi times as required
· Taking minutes of meetings
· Answering telephone calls
· Arranging and booking meetings
· Investigating non-urgent safeguarding concerns
Person Specification:
Essential Criteria:
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a safeguarding, child protection, or related role.
- Experience working with children, vulnerable adults, or at-risk groups.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practices.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Personal Attributes:
- Empathy, patience, and a commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle emotional situations.
Desirable Criteria:
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 safeguarding course.
- Experience working in an educational, social work, or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of multi-agency safeguarding practices.
