HOURS: 37 Hours per week, Term Time + 2 weeks

We are looking for a well-qualified and experienced Safeguarding Officer to be the operational lead for safeguarding at Thorns Collegiate Academy working closely with the DSL, Family Support Worker and wider Pastoral Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To support child protection systems, arrangements in place to enable the Academy to undertake their statutory responsibilities for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • To provide safeguarding advice and guidance to Academy and client school staff to promote the welfare of students.
  • To monitor, evaluate and support with reporting on the effectiveness of safeguarding arrangements.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

The successful candidate will:

  • Have Module One Safeguarding Training or equivalent, be ECAF trained, Lead Professional and Outcomes Star Trained.
  • Have a minimum of two years experience of working in safeguarding and child protection procedures. Have worked for a minimum of 2 years with young people, have experience of record keeping and managing a case load of work and have worked on cases managed at both Early Help level and Child Protection level

While we are ideally looking for a candidate with demonstrable experience managing safeguarding within school, we are open to applications from outstanding candidates with a strong grounding in child protection and demonstrable successful experience supporting the most vulnerable children and families outside of the education sector – for all prospective candidates, a passion for supporting young people, tenacity, commitment and an in depth knowledge of safeguarding practices across all relevant agencies will be vital for success.
