We are inviting applications for the following position commencing in August 2025.
About the role
The school counsellor’s task entails supporting the students, parents, and staff of the GSIS Primary school. This will be achieved through individual and small group counselling as well as preventive classroom teaching. The school counsellor will work in a team of counsellors to achieve a comprehensive school counselling program that addresses the personal and social development of all students. Parents, students and teachers may approach the counsellor for advice and help regarding any social emotional issues.
What is required and what we’re looking for
- Relevant degree in Counselling or Social work required, Masters preferred
- Excellent English speaker with sound written and oral communication skills (native speaker level). German language skills desirable.
- Recent school experience preferred
- Experience of applied counselling strategies and knowledgeable of a variety of counselling approaches and techniques suitable to primary school students
- Understanding of common Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures within a school setting
- Strong advisory skills and experience in the conception and implementation of projects
- Positive, proactive and independent work ethic
- Excellent active listening and communication skills
- Culturally sensitive, tolerant and patient
- Teaching Qualification, desirable
