Job overview
Dear prospective applicant,
I could write a huge amount about the changes that we have made at CHCC, the journey we are on, and that we are now in the top 12% of school nationally for progress.
However, this post is about more than that, it is about making a difference to the lives of a whole community with children at the heart of it. We want to be one of the best schools in the country, not just for results but also for developing the
character of and, enabling our students to be positive contributors to society and for the service that we offer the wider community.
We are a strong group of governors, with a wide-ranging set of skills between us. We are looking to further strengthen the Governing Body and are recruiting a governor that will help take us to the next level. In particular but not exclusively, individuals with a background in education.
As a governing body we attempt to lead with a set of clear values and principles that underpin our challenge and support to the senior team and the Principal. You will need to be able to align with the values of Trust, Honesty, Integrity, Support and Tolerance, as we lead through these as a governing body.
We are looking for committed, skilled and talented individuals from the local community that want to make a genuine difference to the lives of the children in our care.
This is a voluntary position but one that is immensely rewarding as we are building a community from the bottom up and influencing the lives of thousands of people.
We serve over 200 staff and 1500 students, so your ability to understand different groups of people in a dynamic environment is paramount and a key part of the role.
Our mission is simple, we want every student to be the best that they can be, thrive in the best possible career and contribute positively to society.
You will see from our site that our three key values permeate all that we do and have allowed us to grow from strength to strength
We are looking for the role to start as soon as possible and there will be specific training for the successful individual.
Should you wish to apply for the role please provide a response to the question below on no more than 1 side of A4
Why do you want to be a governor at CHCC and what skills and qualities will you bring to the role?
Deadline is Tuesday 28th January at 9am to sumayaseedat@crownhills.leicester.sch.uk
I look forward to receiving your application.
Yours Sincerely,
Mr I Ismail
Chair of Governors

Our aim has always been to make Crown Hills Community College one of the best schools to attend as a child and to work in as a member of staff.
The last few years have been amazing for our college community, as we have started to gain external recognition for the way we are doing things; from being shortlisted twice for the TES well-being school of the year in 2022 and 2023, to being one of five schools to win the Silver Award for the Pearson's secondary school of the year.
Every decision that we take is done with a lot of thought and consideration and we put well-being at the centre, so that teachers can teach and students can learn.
Therefore, we are not a college that is driven by OFSTED and whether we are GOOD or OUTSTANDING but we do things because they are at the very essence of helping our children and school community to be the best that they can be.
We have nearly 200 staff and 1500 students. Our mission is simple, we want every student to be the best that they can be, thrive in the best possible career and contribute positively to society.
We are very clear that the gender, background, colour, financial or social status of a child should have no bearing on how well they perform and staff here work extremely hard in trying to close that gap between the different groups of pupils.
We are well oversubscribed, even though we have increased our PAN from 240 to 300 pupils, we have more applicants than we have spaces. Our P8 score has also increased year on year and we have fluctuated between the top 12% and 20% of schools nationally. We are particularly proud that our PP pupils achieved a score of +0.17 in 2023.
