The school is at an exciting point in its improvement journey and is currently on an upward trajectory, with excellent results being achieved this year and a very positive recent OFSTED report.  We very much see our Science Team as a key player in this journey and are looking for an exceptional early careers teacher to join the team and help shape the culture of the school and the lives of our wonderful learners.

Honywood School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school in Essex, serving students from the age of 11-16. The secondary school, situated in Coggeshall, Colchester has approximately 1,044 students on record. It is in a partnership with Braintree Sixth Form.

Honywood Community Science School converted to academy status in 2011 and was identified as good by Ofsted in 2013. The school is a member of the Jack Petchey Foundation, which identifies nine students every year for their community work or kindness.

Values and vision

Honywood School nurtures students as independent, mature and confident individuals who are fully prepared for a life in a modern and ever changing society. The secondary school believes that all students have the right to a good education to benefit their future opportunities and works to ensure that individuals are enthusiastic about learning and achieving their full potential. Students are encouraged to get involved with extra-curricular activities to enhance their learning experience and gain further skills and confidence. Leadership skills and teamwork is practiced through an active Learner Voice, where student leaders work together to help implement positive changes at the school. Students in Year 10 are given the opportunity to gain work experience in the industry as part of the curriculum, allowing for them to prepare themselves for the responsibilities they will face when leaving school.
