Job overview

The Governors are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced Science Technician to join the Science Faculty at Bellerive FCJ Catholic College.

This is an opportunity for a suitably qualified/experienced person to use their skills in science to support our teachers to help our pupils succeed and reach their full potential in the sciences.

There are 8 science laboratories in the department and the successful candidate will work with the Senior Science technician to support teaching and learning within the Science Faculty. The role includes the preparation and retrieval of materials and apparatus when required for demonstrations and practical work, as well as working alongside teachers to assist in practical demonstrations and experiments during lessons.

In addition, you will assist with the organisation of the Science preparation rooms, including the safe storage and disposal of chemicals, the monitoring and management of stock and supplies and the maintenance and cleaning of equipment, along with any ad hoc tasks delegated to you by the Science Faculty.

You will also be required to act as a First Aider in school and appropriate training will be provided.

Bellerive is a popular, successful and over-subscribed Catholic college for girls aged 11-18 years, with a mixed 6th Form. Our aim is to enable each pupil to make the most of every given ability and enjoy and achieve personal growth and academic excellence. We will support and encourage them to succeed and prepare for their adult life, playing a full part in a modern global society.

We offer a broad and balanced KS3 curriculum, which aims to offer every girl the opportunity to maximise their potential. Bellerive builds on past experiences to help all girls to become successful learners and be responsible citizens. Students within KS4 follow a broad and balanced curriculum, which enables pathways appropriate to individuals and progression into our growing Sixth Form, university and the world of work.

We are rated as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted (October 2021) and Outstanding in the Section 48 inspection carried out by the Archdiocese of Liverpool (April 2024).

Bellerive FCJ Catholic College is committed to ensuring the highest levels of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and we expect all our staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced and Barred DBS check, references, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.
