Science Technician

The Portsmouth Grammar School is a leading co-educational school located in the historic heart of Portsmouth. We are very much a family school known for excellent teaching, superb pastoral care and wide-ranging co-curricular opportunities and offer an education across the age range from Pre-School to Sixth Form. 

We are recruiting for a suitably qualified and experienced science technician to join the school as soon as possible. Working in our science departments, which are located in a state of the art Science Centre, technicians are assigned to support practical work across Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Training is provided to enable technicians to work flexibly across all three sciences as needed. There will be opportunities for the successful candidate to further develop areas of particular interest or specialism according to qualifications and previous experience.

This is a part time, term time only position, to include attendance at all Professional Development Days (INSET) in the school calendar. During published PGS school terms, the hours of work will be 15 hours per week working 08.30 – 16.30 on Monday and Tuesday with a 30 minute unpaid lunchbreak each day. There is an option for this role to be extended to 22.5 hours per week to include Wednesday to suit the successful candidate.
