Job overview

The Bridge AP provides day placements for SEMH students aged 5 to 18 years primarily with communication and interaction difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Some may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties and difficulties that create barriers to learning.

As our provision is growing, we have moved to a new purpose adapted building in Westbury, Wiltshire.

The role of Science Teacher is to provide outstanding teaching and leadership to our class teams. You will support and embed the vision, direction and culture that inspires staff teams to work together to provide the highest standards of education and care.

This role requires teaching Science to secondary-aged students with SEMH needs. You will be responsible for the development of the curriculum for your pupils along with the SENCO, Curriculum Lead and Head of Education. The curriculum will support and engage children and young people ensuring the correct provision of resources, within the educational setting, which allows the pupils to thrive and meet their full potential.

We pride ourselves on our excellent engagement and pastoral care, which ensures the pupils are ready to learn. As a teacher you will be expected to work alongside our pastoral team to implement strategies and engagement to not only develop educational progress but also social and emotional.

We will consider full-time or part-time (3 days a week) for this role.

A turnaround alternative provision

We are an alternative provision for learners who were unsuccessful in a generic classroom and need a therapeutic & holistic approach to their education. Supporting learners from age 5-post 16.

Our provision is a transition rather than a destination setting - supporting a variety of learners, including those that need time out from their home school, at risk of permenant exclusion, those awaiting a special school placement and young people from out of county. We work with learners with a variety of difficulties and conditions including autism, ADHD, SEMH, sensory issues, trauma, brain injuries and learning difficulties. A large focus of our work is helping young people who have behavioural concerns or mental health problems.

We aim to restore young people’s self-confidence, self-esteem, self-control and self-motivation through a flexible, personalised, needs-led programme with unconditional care, nurture and support.

Every day at our provision is a fresh start.
