Job overview

Bank View is a special school for students with autism/complex/severe learning difficulties. We are a successful and expanding school, currently seeking an outstanding, enthusiastic primary teacher with strong subject and SEN knowledge. This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and talented staff team as we continue to grow, including the opening of our third site in the south of the city.

In September 2024, OFSTED rated us “Outstanding” in all areas, describing Bank View as “an exceptional school where pupils achieve their dreams and ambitions.” We are also proud to hold the National Autistic Society’s charter mark, along with several other prestigious quality marks, including OPAL Platinum School status, the Gold Reading Quality Mark, and the Silver Rights Respecting Schools Award, with progress toward Gold.

The successful applicant will have high expectations for both themselves and their students. They will teach core and foundation subjects within the primary phase and use their expertise to support the development of our curriculum and provision for pupils with severe learning difficulties. While experience working in a SEN setting is desirable, it is not essential. The successful candidate will also be expected to implement strategies within the school in support of the school’s development plans.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment to keeping children safe. Any offer of employment will be subject to statutory pre-employment checks including satisfactory references and Enhanced DBS and Barred List checks. This post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (as amended in 2013 & 2020) and shortlisted candidates will be required to disclose any relevant criminal history before interview.

The amendments to the ROA 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975, (amended 2013 and 2020)) provide that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. The MOJ’s guidance on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Exceptions Order 1975, provides information about which convictions must be declared during job applications and related exceptions and further information about filtering offences can be found in the DBS filtering guide: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/dbs-filtering-guidance

We would welcome visits from prospective candidates. Please email Helen Evans, HR Manager h.evans@bankview.liverpool.sch.uk to arrange a time to visit.
