Social-Emotional Counsellor (Whole-School)

 British International School Hanoi is looking to appoint a Social-Emotional Counsellor, to join our talented and dedicated team of educators from August 2025.  

The Social-Emotional Counsellor at BIS Hanoi plays an essential role in promoting student well-being and mental health across the school community. Working with students, staff, and parents, the Counsellor creates a safe, inclusive environment where students can develop emotional resilience, understand themselves better, and thrive academically and personally. Through individual support, collaboration, and community-wide initiatives, the Counsellor fosters a proactive approach to mental health, helping ensure that all students feel supported. 

Purpose of Role: 

• Provide confidential counselling to support students' emotional needs and personal growth. 
• Accept and manage referrals from students, staff, and parents, assessing and coordinating appropriate interventions. 
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and liaise with external professionals to support student well-being. 
• Guide and support the work of any counselling interns, fostering their professional growth. 
• Consult with staff and parents, contributing to a unified support network around each student. 
• Design and deliver workshops for staff, students, and parents to promote mental health awareness. 
• Oversee the Safe Space, ensuring it remains a secure environment for students, with accurate record-keeping. 
• Maintain detailed records, track counselling data, and analyze trends to enhance school programming. 
• Actively engage in safeguarding practices, contributing to the Child Protection team and attending relevant training. 
• Facilitate mental health initiatives with student leaders and promote resources across the school community.

• International school experience, particularly an IB background, is desired but not a necessity to apply.
