In addition to supporting in classroom based learning this role will also be a specialist role focussing on supporting pupils in outdoor learning.

This will suit candidates with a passion, skills and experience in one or more of the following areas: -

Forest School, Beach School, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Fishing

Nore Academy is a brand-new SEN school soon to open on the Isle of Sheppey.

We will be opening our doors early in 2025. We will cater for young people aged 11-16 with a primary need of SEMH and other related areas of SEN such as ASD. The first phase of opening will see approximately 48 pupils join across KS3 and 4 many of whom may have been out of school for some time and desperately need support from ambitious, driven teaching and support staff who care deeply about pupils’ emotional as well as academic development.

This is a really exciting opportunity to start at a brand-new school and be part of the journey from day 1 in the establishment and development of a much-needed educational provision on the island.

As the school grows and develops there will be opportunity for roles to develop accordingly in order for us to meet the evolving needs of the school.

This is a term time only - permanent position with a National NJC pay grade Sc5 scale point 11-15, £27,269 – £29,093 (pro rata £23,456 - £25,025) depending depending on experience

The ideal candidate will:

·      Have relentless positivity and can-do attitude.

·      Have experience in one or more of the following:-

  1. Planning, instructing and/or assessing Duke of Edinburgh’s Programmes
  2. Experience hiking and camping
  3. Experience as a forest school practitioner
  4. Experience supporting Scout groups
  5. Experience supporting young people in outdoor learning experiences

·      Be able to inspire and support learning both in a classroom setting but also through a range of enrichment opportunities.

·      Be able to play a positive part in a high performing team.

·      Great communication skills

·      Have high levels of patience, empathy and emotional intelligence.

·      Have an awareness of SEMH needs and value the power of education to support these.

·      Have high expectations of all young people.

·      Be wholly child centred in their thinking and actions.

·      Be committed to child protection and take a personal and collective responsibility for all aspects of safeguarding.

·      Have a creative and flexible approach to working with young people.

·      Have a desire to support the well-being, resilience, and self-belief of our students.

·      Want to grow and develop in this new role.
