Terrington Hall Prep School is seeking to engage a peripatetic Speech and Language Therapist to provide speech and language support to pupils.
Part-time peripatetic teachers are regarded as self-employed, engaged through a Consultancy Agreement. Teachers can set their own rates and working schedules.
Key Responsibility /Accountability :
- To plan and deliver relevant and age appropriate one to one lessons for children accessing SALT
- Liaise with the SENCO, class teacher and teaching assistants to provide weekly targets for children accessing SALT
- Feedback to parents and share targets with families with a focus on relevant targets
- Share good practice with staff to ensure progression for all children accessing SALT is impactful
- Write appropriately detailed reports and review individualised targets for children at the end of each block of intervention
- Assist in any paperwork associated with the application of external support – for example, referral to the Local Authority SEND Hub or EHCAR
- Be prepared to meet with parents to share feedback

The successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate the following:
Qualifications/experience.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role supported by relevant qualifications to deliver excellent SALT provision to students across pupils aged 3 and upwards.
Knowledge & Skills.
- An appropriate and recognised qualification in SALT
- An understanding of a variety of learning profiles, including autism, ADHD and SPLD
- An ability to adapt support to a variety of age groups
- Excellent verbal and communication skills
Personal Qualities
- Friendly, calm and approachable with a willingness to share ideas and offer support to our school community
- Compassionate and warm hearted with the ability to work as part of a busy team
Safeguarding and welfare of children
The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom they are responsible, or with whom they come into contact with, will be to adhere to and always ensure compliance with the Schools’ Child Protection Policy Statement. If while carrying out the duties of the post the role holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School, they must report any concerns to the School’s DSL or the Headteacher.
