Job overview

We are looking for four Sports Assistants to join our Sports department at Collegiate Senior School. 

THE ROLE:

The role will include:

·        Coaching and officiating a selection of the school’s major sports: rugby, netball, hockey and cricket

·        Support of weekend fixtures

·        General teaching support duties in the PE and Sports departments

·        Supporting our strength & conditioning programme

·        Administrative tasks in support of the sporting provision

·        Organising tournaments

·        Leading a school trips

·        Potentially helping to run a tutor group

·        Some support of Prep School Games may also be included

Expert Mentorship and Development:

The successful candidates will work with and be supported by members of our Sports department. This includes our Head of Rugby, Girvan Dempsey (joint fourth most try-scorer for Ireland and former Bath Backs coach and Leinster Academy coach) and Head of Netball, Ursula ‘Billy’ Pritchard (who played at the Commonwealth Games, World Championships, captained Wales in the 2007 World Cup and won the Super and Super League title with Team Bath).

In recent years Sports Assistants have developed their teamwork, resilience, confidence and problem-solving skills and subsequently gained employment as teachers and sports coaches, two of them at Collegiate School. Sports Assistants find the placement deeply rewarding.

Explore Opportunities Across Departments:

When time allows there is opportunity to spend time and learn about other departments within the school that may be of interest, for example Marketing. We would also be happy to provide time for Sports Assistants to complete coaching and/or officiating courses to support their future career ambitions.

Hours:

Sports Assistants work 40 hours across 6 days for all of term time (35 weeks). This work placement is offered from Tuesday 26th August 2025 and will conclude early July, at end of the Summer Term 2026.

Collegiate is a day school so there are no evening or boarding duties associated with this role.
