If you are passionate about sport and physical education this is an exciting opportunity to develop your coaching skills and teaching experience at a leading independent boarding school.

St Edward’s seeks to appoint a Sports Graduate Assistant who is interested in pursuing a career in teaching to join the school from September 2025 for one academic year, with the possibility that the contract will be renewed for a second year in September 2026.

As Sports Graduate Assistant, you will play a key role assisting the department with teaching and coaching sport in one of the school’s major sports – Rugby, Football, Rowing, Hockey, Cricket, Tennis or Netball.

You will be involved in the preparation for match days and match analysis and will lead training sessions and assist in the coaching of other sports offered by the school and supervise pupil training sessions in the Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing Gym,

You will also work with other sports coaches to ensure the smooth running of assessment days, prep school tournaments and other sporting events. 

The work of Graduate Assistants is varied, and that variety is, to some extent, determined by the personality, enthusiasm and skills of the individual. The post has become a successful springboard for those considering teaching as a career and over a number of years Graduate Assistants have gone on to promising careers in major schools round the country.
