Job overview

Townsville Catholic Education (TCE) is seeking registrations from passionate and competent relief teachers and school officers available during the 2024 school year.

As a relief staff, you will fill in short term vacancies in our Primary and Secondary schools located around Townsville and regional areas. Accommodation, meals and travel expenses are covered should you be required to travel to our regional schools. To successfully register as a Supply, you are required to complete the following:

STEP 1 - Complete Registration Form

Complete the online registration form (at the bottom of this page). For eligibility, you will need to have:

  • Working rights in Australia - i.e Australian birth certificate or Australian Passport or Australian Citizenship Certificate or valid working visa
  • For teachers, you need a current Professional Registration with Queensland College of Teachers
  • For non-teachers, you need a current PAID Blue Card

Allow 3 days for us to review your application.

STEP 2 - Reference Check

In order to make an informed decision on your suitability for the role, TCE will conduct two professional reference checks. One of your nominated professional referees is to be your current or most recent supervisor. Your referees will be contacted via email to complete an online Referee Report. Please ensure that you include their email address in your application form.

A professional referee is a person that can provide us with detail in respect to your work ethic, experience and competency. We reserve the right to request an additional referee if we believe a person has not been fully forthcoming.

Allow 5 days for us to conduct the reference checks. However, this may take longer dependent on how responsive your referees are.

STEP 3 - Onboarding

When you have satisfied the recruitment requirement as a Supply, you will be notified when your application is at Onboarding status. HR Onboarding team will prepare and issue your Supply contract. You will need to review your contract and provide us with your acceptance along with the completed onboarding documents listed in your offer letter. HR Onboarding will then process your acceptance in our Human Resources Information System (HRIS).

Allow HR Onboarding 5 days to prepare your contract and 5 days to process your acceptance and onboarding documents into our HRIS system. However, this may take longer dependent on how responsive you are.

STEP 4 - Mandatory Compliance Training

All employees are required to complete compliance training ANNUALLY such as Student Protection Training, Workplace Health and Safety training etc. There are nine (9) e-learning modules and will take approximately six (6) hours to complete.

Once we have processed your details in the HRIS system, you will be issued with supply login details (ie supply email address, username and password). Information about the compliance training and the link to access them will be emailed to your supply email address. You are required to complete ALL the compliance training online within the specific timeframe. Failure to comply will result in cancellation of your Supply registration.

Finally, when you have completed the Compliance Training, you will be sent an invitation to register your profile with Tap for Teacher. Tap for Teacher is a Supply list database and the schools within the Diocese of Townsville have access to this to find suitable Supply. Once your profile has been created and approved on Tap for Teacher, you can approach the schools and they can invite you for supply work opportunities.

Please allow us 2 days for this portion of the process .
