Suitable for MPR or newly qualified teachers. This is a permanent position.

Required for January 2024, PE is a strength of the school and this role is a key position.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, passionate Teacher of boys PE to provide stimulating and dynamic teaching for a vital area of our school. The successful candidate will encourage initiative, innovation and deliver a curriculum that fosters a love of their subject through enthusiasm, and expertise. They will be creative and committed to the opportunities sport can provide for young people and be keen to offer the broadest range of activities and enrichment possible to our students. The successful candidate will be able to teach boys PE delivering to both KS3 and KS4 and in addition, we expect the candidate to be able to support delivery of KS4 examination courses which include GCSE PE and Cambridge National Sport Science/BTEC Tech Award in Sport. PE is supported by excellent resources including a 3G football pitch, fitness suite, sports hall, and floodlit tennis/netball courts and the successful candidate will inspire learning, promote an interest in the subject and ensure high achievement, both within the curriculum and through extra-curricular activities.

Applicants must be outstanding and motivated and able to demonstrate a commitment, initiative and a can-do approach. They must be willing to make a contribution to the full life of the school and to ensure that all our students achieve the best possible outcomes.

Lacon Childe School is an 11-16 comprehensive situated in the small market town of Cleobury Mortimer in rural South Shropshire.  There are currently 549 pupils on roll.  The school is oversubscribed in most year groups and is very highly regarded within the community it serves.  The catchment area is large and pupils live in small villages, hamlets and isolated farms.  Around 70% of pupils travel to school by bus each day.

The school was established in 1735 and has a strong tradition of achievement and academic excellence.
