Teacher of Business

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teacher of Business to join us at The British College of Andorra, in the heart of the Pyrenees mountains.

We are looking for an inspirational teacher who is ready to educate our students to be future employees, business leaders, entrepreneurs or social entrepreneurs, and to develop within them the confidence, creativity and compassion to act as change agents for business in an increasingly interconnected global marketplace.

We are looking for an experienced teacher who has a developed understanding of the difference between performance and learning, a broad and knowledgable approach to assessment and feedback, and a research-informed pedagogy aligned with the BCA definition of High Quality Learning, namely that effective learning:    

• is encouraged within authentic contexts;    
• is constructivist, and inquiry-based;    
• is cyclical and progressive;    
• is both individualised and collaborative;    
• fosters student agency;    
• promotes intercultural understanding.

Candidate Specifications:  

• Qualified Teacher Status - essential  
• Recognised Bachelor’s degree - essential  
• Experience with the IB Diploma Business and Management course- essential (A level Business experience accepted as an alternative). Possible introduction of Economics in the following school year.
• Understanding of a conceptual approach to teaching and learning (including the specific business related concepts of creativity, change, ethics and sustainability)- desirable
• Ability to teach an additional subject- desirable
• Experience teaching English as an Additional Language students - desirable

This post is primarily to teach Business to students aged 14 -18 years old (Years 10-13/Grades 9-12) following the IGCSE Business and IB Diploma Business and Management courses. The school may introduce Economics in the following school year.

The post offers a unique opportunity to live in a spectacular natural environment with outdoor pursuits such as skiing, cycling, climbing and mountain walking on your doorstep, and with low tax advantages. The school, which currently has over 250 students, is situated just outside Andorra la Vella in a stunning mountainside location. We are 3 hours by road from Barcelona and Toulouse. We are an authorised school for Pearson Edexcel IGCSE examinations and for the delivery of the IB Diploma Programme.
