LDE UTC is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative and passionate specialist who is wishing to join our Digital department. supportive, forward-thinking faculty. The new teaching roles are full time but part time hours will be considered for suitable candidates.
You will be able to inspire and motivate students of all abilities to achieve their full potential, and will have a deep understanding of the latest pedagogical techniques and technologies. We will also consider part time applications.
This post is suitable for an ECT or an experienced teacher.

About the School:
London Design & Engineering University Technical College (LDE UTC) is an oversubscribed technical skills provision that opened in 2016. In January 2019 we moved into our brand-new purpose-built state of the art building which enjoys its inspirational dockside location on the Royal Docks. Our specialisms include engineering, civil engineering and computing / digital. Courses include, built environment for our budding architects, systems and control, engineering design and digital which contains virtual reality, augmented reality and computing. LDE UTC has been set up by Thames Water, Costain, Skanska, LEGO, Thames Tideway Tunnel, and our university partner the University East London to provide learners with the opportunity to progress onto University, higher degree apprenticeships or the workplace. Learners look forward to a business like STEM rich curriculum, with access to the very best educational facilities and industry standard equipment in the world. We are able to offer this exciting curriculum from the age of 13 upwards by delivering GCSE’s, A Levels, technical level 3 courses and apprenticeships from level 2 to 8 (level 5 and above in partnership with our University partner UEL).
At LDE UTC staff welfare is at the heart of what we do and being a new and dynamic institution we have been able to introduce new initiatives to support staff and improve wellbeing. As part of this, we have introduced a staff wellbeing committee (SMILE), introduced fresh fruit Wednesdays and provide free milk, tea and coffee daily as well as a healthy free lunch
Additionally, we offer all staff from day one, an opportunity to apply for flexible working and dependant on the role, staff are able to work from home for 20% of the working week. We also offer initiatives such as the Cycle2Work scheme and Employee Assistance Programme to further support staff wellbeing. We have also implemented a 4.5 day timetable for learners, creating 54% learner contact time and 46% of the working week for PPA and CPL. 10 of the 190 days for our learners are ‘flipped learning days’ allowing further time for CPL and PPA for teachers. London Design and Engineering UTC (University Technical College) is a mixed, 14-19 secondary college with sixth form, situated in Docklands Campus, University Way, in London. The college opened in September 2016 and provides education for students of all abilities from Key Stage 4 and above who would like to pursue a career in design and engineering.
UTCs are government-funded schools that teach 14-19 year old students technical and scientific subjects with a new approach; they are educating the inventors, engineers, scientists and technicians of tomorrow.
The concept of UTCs was created by Lord Baker and Lord Dearing with the aim of bridging the skills gap by linking Industry with education. The Baker Dearing Educational Trust (BDT) was founded to develop and promote the concept of University Technical Colleges.
