Job overview
“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players: They have their exits and their entrances…..”
Are you looking for a world stage? Are you genuinely focused on guiding enthusiastic and committed learners through the “stages” of life? Are you an inspiring and passionate teacher with knowledge of the UK curriculum and qualifications framework and experience or interest in teaching A Level or IB? Are you interested in playing a role to help raise the profile of the Arts after recent global events have pushed us into the wings? Are you interested in working in a thriving international environment which values the wellbeing of all staff and students? This position could be the perfect match for you.
We are currently looking for a Teacher of Drama for our Senior School Voorschoten (SSV) campus, just outside The Hague, from August 2022. This post is offered as a full time role, but it may be possible for the successful candidate to work part time by mutual agreement.
Drama is taught to all of Key Stage three once a week and is a popular choice at GCSE and A Level where we follow the Eduqas exam board. We work closely with our English Department and have a variety of extra-curricular activities including Theatre Appreciation Society, Drama Club and a yearly School Production. We are a member of ISTA (International Schools Theatre Association), have very strong links with The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, and our students have performed on the stage at The Dutch National Theatre.
About you
We are looking for an ambitious, keen and eager teacher to join our team and help to contribute in guiding our young people to feel confident in taking risks to express themselves and work together in a positive and effective way. We are particularly interested in innovative and creative practitioners who would enthusiastically contribute to the wider co-curricular aspects of the Department and school life. The ability to teach English to GCSE would be an advantage, also a working knowledge of lighting and sound equipment.
About the Drama department
The Drama Department comprises 2 full-time specialists and is also supported by members of the English Department. We have 3 dedicated Drama spaces across the campus and up to date sound and lighting rigs. All staff and students receive a Microsoft Surface Pro device for their individual use at school and at home and excellent professional development opportunities are available.
