About the English Department:

At Caister, we pride ourselves in having a dedicated team of practitioners who work directly within the subject of English. Consisting of seven teachers, with lead practitioners and raising achievement mentors alike - we work as a collective to better the outcomes of students across the academy. The department is proud of its collective and collaborative approach that supports the development of a broad and diverse curriculum. Pupils read and understand the written language in a range of different forms, developing an in-depth appreciation of the writer’s craft. Our aim is to promote and encourage high standards of language and literacy by develop reading skills, the written word and confidence in oracy. Through Literature, students are immersed in cultures and experiences to enrich their understanding of human relations, historical and social contexts and a range of perspectives.
