In this role you will be working in a purpose-built food technology building, offering two speciality teaching specific kitchens, a walk-in fridge/freezer, an extensive pantry, gallery windows, dining room, herb gardens and a barista server. Encompassing 24 commercial mini kitchens with commercial ovens, combi ovens, salamanders and interactive display and teaching screens, this is a state of the art teaching environment, with the role supported by food technicians and on-site laundry services.


As a Teacher of Food Technology, you'll have the opportunity to lead engaging and interactive classes that explore the fascinating world of food science, nutrition, and culinary arts. Through hands-on experiments, cooking demonstrations, and innovative projects, you'll empower students to develop practical skills and a deep understanding of the science behind food preparation.

  

Responsibilities:  

  • Develop and deliver engaging curriculum in food technology for students of varying abilities from year 7 to 13.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and enthusiasm.
  • Plan and conduct practical lessons in our well-equipped kitchen facilities.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in food technology and integrate them into your teaching.
  • Comply and enforce health and safety expectations across the faculty.

  

Qualifications, skills and experience: 

  • Ideally have a degree in Food Technology, Home Economics, or a related field, or relevant practical experience alongside another degree subject matter.
  • Teaching certification or equivalent experience in education.
  • Strong knowledge of food science, nutrition, and culinary skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.

The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching Food Technology / Food & Nutrition at senior levels; year 11 to 13.
