We are looking for an exceptional, well-qualified and enthusiastic part time Mathematics teacher to cover a maternity leave and support the further development of our thriving and vibrant Mathematics Department which boasts highly motivated students and an excellent academic record.

As an outstanding candidate, you will be expected to have the ability to teach Mathematics throughout the school from Year 7 to 13, creating opportunities for students to develop over their time at SWPS. Mathematics is one of our most popular subjects at A Level so we would prefer that you have experience of teaching at KS5, in particular the Mechanics content of A Level Maths.

About the Department

Mathematics is a thriving and popular subject within the school. The Department consists of eight teachers who form a committed, enthusiastic and supportive team. The Mathematics teaching rooms are equipped with interactive white boards and all members of staff have access to a personal iPad. Subsequently, the Mathematics curriculum is delivered via a range of digital and non-digital mediums allowing for dynamic and engaging lessons for our students, with subscriptions to online maths resources such as SparxMaths and Dr Frost, augmenting pupils’ learning. The teaching of Mathematics aims to develop confidence in and enjoyment of the subject and to provide the students with an enriching and personalised experience that will encourage their learning up to GCSE, Advanced level and beyond.

There is a wealth of co-curricular Mathematics on offer, including Maths Clinic, the Hans Woyda competition, and the UKMT National Mathematical Challenges which we enter students for at Junior, Intermediate and Senior levels. In addition to this, sixth form students are also offered the opportunity to attend external lectures by leading mathematicians. The successful candidate will be prepared to accompany and supervise students on various extracurricular trips, enhancing the learning experience beyond the classroom.

Sir William Perkins’s School is a high-performing independent girls’ school for approximately 600 students aged 11 – 18 years. The Head is both a member of HMC and GSA. About Sir William Perkins's School

Welcome to Sir William Perkins's School

Where Generosity, Curiosity and Ambition thrive and Great Things are expected

At Sir William Perkins’s School, students are at our heart. We expect the best from them and in return they can expect the best from us – both in terms of teaching of the highest quality, and in receiving the tailored support and attention they need to achieve.

We know our students, their talents, hopes and aspirations; and in turn we seek staff who actively encourage our students to explore their interests and achieve their potential in an innovative and inspiring atmosphere.

Founded in 1725, we are a warm and friendly independent girls’ school for 600 students aged 11-18. Set in 13 acres of attractive green-belt grounds in Surrey, SWPS is a beautiful environment with first-rate facilities, in which both staff and students flourish.

Easily reached by road or public transport, we are a two-minute walk from Chertsey Train Station, with direct links to London Waterloo and surrounding towns.

The power of potential

We challenge each student to explore their potential through academic aspiration and active participation. We teach our students to expect Great Things of themselves, because we know every individual is capable of Great Things.

Academic success is always our priority, but education should be about far more than achieving top grades. We believe in educating the whole person and equipping our students with the confidence to make their mark on the world.

We encourage students to become involved in the many co-curricular activities on offer. Taking every opportunity to develop their interests and creativity, their interpersonal, teamwork and leadership skills, to be forward-thinking and to reach into the wider community.

A SWPS student is:

  • Generous with their thoughts, their gifts and their time.
  • Curious about their world and their future.
  • Ambitious for themselves and for others.
