Job overview

Teacher of Maths

Full-Time from January 2025

The Governors at Bridlington School, are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Maths to join our highly successful Maths Team.  You will be passionate about your subject area and able to stretch and challenge pupils of all abilities in all Key Stages. Ensuring the importance of inclusive education for all is key.

The Team

The Maths team is led by a Director and Deputy Director overseen by the Associate Headteacher. It is a highly experienced team that also includes 2 Lead Practitioners, so whatever stage you are in your career, you will receive a lot of support from your colleagues. Teaching Assistants are allocated departments at Bridlington School, so you will also work with 3 specialist TAs who know and understand the Maths curriculum.

The School

Bridlington School is a successful 11-18 maintained school with over 1,000 students on roll, a number which is rising year on year as our reputation as a centre of excellence grows within the local area. We have a small but thriving sixth form; the growth of this is an ambition for the school. Students are polite, respectful and keen to learn, 49% are entitled to free school meals, 25% are also on the SEN register predominantly due to difficulties with literacy and numeracy skills.

What we can offer You

It is an exciting time to join Bridlington School as we continue to strengthen relationships with other local Education providers including nearby Secondary Schools and Primary Feeders. This provides opportunity to be involved in transition and outreach work, but also connections with peers across the local area.

The school has a genuine and sustained focus on reducing workload, particularly in relation to marking and feedback.

You will join a friendly, supportive department who can assist your own career aims including progression. Many of our senior staff joined Bridlington School as NQTs/ECTs.

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Plan and deliver high quality teaching and learning in their specialist area, or other area of expertise
  • Take responsibility for the welfare, academic and personal development of the students in a class/tutor group
  • Take a responsibility for general health and safety across the working environment
  • Be a visible presence around the school site to perform duties as directed to facilitate a safe working environment for young people
  • Be a role model and apply the principles consistently
  • Fulfil requirements for marking, assessment and reporting to parents in line with school policies
  • Attend, actively engage and contribute to, where appropriate, staff training events
  • Carry out the role of a dedicated Form Tutor
